GraceNotes: Holding the Space for … Reflection

Show me your garden and I shall tell you what you are.

— Alfred Austin

Greetings, Inspired Seekers!

I don't know about you but, during this time of isolation I have spent more time weeding than I ever have in my life!

Some of that time has been satisfying and some – well … not so much. But my time spent in the gardens and flower beds has been mostly meditative and for that I am grateful. I have come to feel more connected to the earth, more a part of nature. And I have learned that weeding can only be successful if you really see what is right in front of you and then respond to it. Ahhh … isn't that what being fully present means? To be fully in the moment?

All of the vegetation – flowers and weeds – grow because they let in the light and that light mixes with their inner workings. The comparison, here, to our spiritual growth cannot be missed. It is the mixology of the inner self and the light of grace that creates growth, that helps us to blossom into the creation we were intended to become.

Looking at the garden this way … well, perhaps we are all meant to become gardeners of our own souls, to let in the light, to weed when needed and to bloom!

Celebrate the 4th of July by blooming!

Grace, fully yours,
Reverend Deborah
