GraceNotes: Holding the Space for … Reflection

#24 — April 1, 2014

All things born in truth must die, but out of death comes life.

— The Bhagavad Gita

Welcome, Inspired Seekers:

Will Spring ever arrive here in the North East? Many of us are asking this question, forgetting that life comes only when the Winter has completely ended what nature bore so many months ago. It is lovely to see the snowdrops piercing the ground and to finally see the grass peek out from the still chilly earth. This is a time of fertile regeneration. So, what is growing within you? What new life is taking shape in your thoughts and in your soul? If we struggle with regeneration, perhaps it is because that which needs to die is holding on with relentless will.

In Corinthians we read: "…the old has passed away; behold, the new has come." "When I let go of who I am, I become what I might be," offers Lao Tzu. And from Black Elk we hear, "The life of a person is a circle from childhood to childhood…"

In spite of inspiration from many spiritual traditions, we hold close those old behaviors and beliefs that limit new growth and choke the vines reaching up within us. So, during this season when we plant and till and water and prune, what will you nurture within? And what will you leave behind so that new growth can take hold? Can you forgive? Can you let go? Can you make the first step toward newness and wholeness? Can you bury the choices that no longer serve you and your heart? Bury them with grace and honor, but put them where they belong — in the past. And then, watch as the new truth begins to shine within you and light a new path in the world!

We will be celebrating a Lenten Labyrinth Journey
on Friday, April 11 at 7:00 pm
at the First Baptist Church of Lansdale.
Please join us, if you are able. All are welcome!

Reverend Deborah
