GraceNotes: Holding the Space for … Reflection
#9 — January 1, 2013 |
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. — Martin Luther King, Jr. Greetings, Inspired Seekers! We are beginning a new year at a time when the remnants of the old are still within our hearts. And while those remnants contain much joy, the pain held in them is far too fresh. So, how do we move forward? I believe the only answer is to allow the light of love to lead us. And those are not the empty words of a slogan plastered on a poster. They are words that must live in and through us. All sacred scriptures and all holy paths share the golden rule. And all traditions speak of the necessity to love God — as we define that Source of all goodness. But, when we combine those two teachings, we have the ignition switch for the world. Loving the Source that lives within us and loving each other is symbolized in the Hindu greeting of “Namaste” and brings that love to life. By loving the essence of each other, we love the essence of the Divine. And, in those moments, Heaven and Earth are united and fully present within us. Life is being lived not simply by us but through us. It is a great and abundant gift. So, as we begin this new year, let us make a promise to the world and to our Creator. Let us promise to live life fully and completely, to bless the world with the compassion we share. For, if we really lead and are led by love, will not the fear that lurks in the shadows retreat and give way to the Light? My wish and my prayer is that this coming year be filled with great love and hope, and may you grace the world with the love that shines through you! Please join us as we celebrate this New Year of love’s rebirth: | ||||||
