GraceNotes: Holding the Space for … Reflection
#3 — July 1, 2012

God is like a person who clears his throat
while hiding and so gives himself away.

— Meister Eckhart

Greetings, Inspired Seeker!

The quotation above always makes me smile! For when inspiration comes to me, it often feels like a soft clearing, a delicate pull from the inside that causes a shift within me. Something is trying to be cleared so that a new voice can appear. God works like that. At least for me.

I have found that the Divine Spirit does not force or cajole, it does not press or squeeze. But, rather, Spirit speaks with a softness that is often easy to miss. I struggle with listening. Yet, Spirit pursues. Shhhhhhh, change is in the air.

Sometimes the door is opened just a bit, inviting me to attend to the beacon of Light that shines from within. Sometimes, the door is fully opened and I stand, wondering instead of trusting. And, sometimes, the door opens and I enter, confident that Spirit envelops me. And, yes, there are times when I actually ask to be nudged through. Such is the grace of choice.

How are you standing at the door? Ready? Nervous? Trusting? Or, have you made it to the door yet? The beauty of Interfaith is the understanding that we are all at different points, on varied paths, to the same end. A stronger relationship with the Divine as we understand Him or Her.

As a minister, I listen for that gentle clearing that calls me to service. But, the call is there for all of us, ordained or not. If you are feeling a stirring within you, a need for change, or a moving rustle from your Source, consider this:

Where are you closest to the Divine? Go there.
What speaks to your soul? Listen to it.
How do you sense Spirit? Share it.
When are you most connected? Protect and practice.

And, if you are looking for an engaging, uplifting and Spirit-filled Celebration Service, join us:
